In the past couple weeks, I have received numerous emails and texts from friends and partners concerning seasons they are in. Many are beyond weary. I can fully understand that. This season has been heavy and challenging for many people – especially those who have determined to seek God, no matter what.
I can’t help but think about a scripture in the book of Daniel.
And he shall speak great words against the Most High and shall wear out the saints of the most High. (Dan 7:25)
We are seeing this scripture play out right before our eyes. The enemy is attempting to weary the saints. How does he do that? By speaking words against the Most High God, our God.
He will constantly say things like, “Do you really think God will heal you? He didn’t heal so and so.” Or “You prayed for Sister… and she died.” Or, “What makes you think God will come through for you, remember what you did or what you said last week, that wasn’t a very good Christian.”
It isn’t anything new for the enemy. We see the same thing in the book of Genesis.
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (Gen 3:1-6)
What was he saying? He was trying to convince them that what God has said wasn’t true. Just as he does today.
God says we are healed; the enemy tries to convince us we are not. God said He will supply all our needs. The enemy tries to say we will never get out of debt. God says we will be saved and our household. The enemy says our children will never come back to God. My friend is a liar. He knows nothing but lies. Know this, if it disagrees with the word of God – it is not truth. It is a lie and comes straight from the devil. Don’t agree with him. Don’t allow your words to agree with his words.
Have you ever been around someone who talks until you feel weary? I know I have. So what do we do when the enemy attempts to weary us? First, we must stop listening to him. We can’t answer his lies with a thought – we must answer his words, just like Jesus did, with the word of God. Every time you hear something that is opposite of the word of God for your situation, answer it! Answer it with the Word of God.
Additionally, if you are feeling weary today, spend more time in the Word of God. If you can’t sit down and read, play an audio bible, that helps me a lot. If you need healing, play healing scriptures. You can find them online on YouTube. The same goes for prosperity. Find scriptures that speak to the subject of prosperity and play them or study them. Do things like this until you feel your strength returning.
The enemy is afraid, that is why he attempts to weary you. He cannot win if we refuse to quit. That being said, I do know many are weary – please know, I am praying for you this week. That God will strengthen your heart. That your strength will return even stronger than you have ever known before. God sees your struggle, and He desires to help you – lean into Him this week and allow Him to strengthen you in ways that only He can. He’s waiting – run into Him today – in Him is all you need. You have His word on it
