Early Monday morning I walked through my house to prepare for the day. As I walked down the hallway, the Lord placed a scripture in my heart that I haven’t thought about for some time. The scripture is found in the book of Exodus.
Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land. (Ex 23:30)
This is not always the word we like to hear from the Lord when walking through a challenging season, is it?
Most of us would prefer to pray one time and have a quick deliverance from the Lord. I get that. When battles come my way, I would rather pray and have an immediate answer – we all would. However, it doesn’t always happen that way.
When we pray and don’t get a quick answer, we often give up. Sometimes, things seem to get worse when we pray. We become discouraged, disappointed and may even decide it is not God’s will after all.
That is exactly what the enemy wants us to think. He wants us to give up. To stop praying. He knows, if we refuse to give up, we will walk in the promises of God. That being said, immediate answers don’t always come.
The lack of an immediate answer doesn’t mean God is not working on your behalf. Sometimes, it is just as this scripture says, little by little God will drive out your enemies before you. What exactly does that look like?
Well, if you are having health challenges, with several different symptoms, perhaps you will begin to notice one symptom at a time leaving. While instant healing may not take place, you will still be healed, a little at a time. The Bible says we lay hands on the sick and they recover. Sometimes, as we know, recovery takes time. At times, we must walk it out.
Perhaps you are praying and believing God for finances, or to become debt free. Several years ago, I began to pray for debt freedom. It did not happen all at once, actually, I am still praying and declaring that prayer. However, little by little, I was able to pay off debts, until the only debt I have now is my home. Little by little God did what I asked of Him.
My friends, I don’t know what battles you are facing today. Or how long you have been standing in faith and believing God for deliverance, healing or a manifestation of your prayer. But this I do know, God is faithful.
If God doesn’t bring immediate relief or deliverance, don’t despair. He is still working on your behalf. It could be that this scripture applies to you today. Perhaps, little by little, God is driving out every enemy from your life. Continue praying. Keep pressing it. Refuse to doubt.
Don’t allow disappointment to take hold. Don’t let the enemy torment you by telling you it will never happen. Instead, remind him that little by little God is driving out every enemy from your life – until you increase and inherit all God has promised you.
