Lately, I’ve been inexplicably waking up between 1 and 3 a.m., and this past week was no exception. On one particular night, as the clock struck 1:00 a.m., my eyes fluttered open, wide and alert. I lay there in the stillness of the dark, the silence surrounding me almost palpable. The moonlight filtered through the curtains, casting gentle shadows across the room. In that moment, I wondered whether this awakening was a whisper from the Lord or merely a reflection of the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

As I settled into the stillness, my mind narrowed in on a particular issue that had been occupying my prayers lately. As I thought about this prayer need, a story shared by Brother Norvel Hayes about an individual who had triumphed over the very obstacle I was confronting, entered my mind. A smile crept across my face as I whispered, “Thank you, Lord, for that powerful testimony.” In that moment, I felt a soft, reassuring response in my spirit, as God spoke to me: “It’s one of the tools I have given you.”

In that moment, I began to reflect on other things I was praying for and standing in faith about. Each time a new thought arose, I was immediately reminded of someone who had also overcome similar struggles, found deliverance from the same situation, or experienced healing from the same issue. Again and again, God brought testimonies I had heard or witnessed myself to my mind. With each reminder, I heard in my spirit, “It’s one of the tools I have given you.”

A tool is defined as a device or implement, especially one held in the hand, that is used to carry out a particular function. We, my friend, have tools in our hands, given by the Lord to access whenever we need them. One of those powerful tools is testimony. Either our own testimonies or those we have heard or seen from those around us.

For hours, I lay quietly in bed, allowing the Lord to remind me of testimony after testimony. Each time, He referred to them as tools. Later that morning, I began to research testimonies and found an article that confirmed everything I was hearing from the Lord.

This article stated that testimony is defined as a formal written or spoken statement in the court of law, and a public recounting of a religious conversion or experience. They went on to share…

In Hebrew, testimony is the word ‘aydooth,’ which means to do again with the same power and authority.  WHOO HOO! Oh, my goodness, that is a glorious promise! That means each time we hear a testimony, we can claim it as our own and BELIEVE it will manifest in our life with the SAME power and authority.

Today, I want you to think back. Think of every testimony you have ever heard. Allow God to remind you of testimonies that are either yours or that you have once heard. Write them down. Take them as your own. Pray over them and remind God that He is no respecter of persons – what He did for them – He will do for you with the same power and authority.

I feel excited just thinking about it. I have personally experienced healing miracles and financial breakthroughs, and I have seen my daughter experience miracles as well. These are testimonies that I can expect to happen in my life again, even in my current situation.

I have also prayed for others and witnessed God perform miracles. I have seen God empower people to pay off their homes or get out of debt in extraordinary ways. These are experiences that I can claim for myself, and you can, too.

Today, let us remember the power of our testimony! It is a tool that God has given to us—may we use it fully as we witness His promises and His Word being fulfilled in our lives.
