And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there shall be no rain. Zechariah 14:17
Is the rain of the abundance of God in your life today? If not, perhaps you have neglected to worship the King.
In the book of Deuteronomy 11:13-14, we find when we obey and serve God with all our heart and soul, He gives us rain for our land. Early and latter rain. But what causes the rain of the abundance of God to fall in our lives? I believe it is worship. To me, it’s like a cloud. As you worship, the cloud fills up. Once it can’t take any more water within, it literally bursts forth and pours down rain.
Several years ago, I went through a time of fasting and prayer for one specific thing. It was my hearts cry to worship God in spirit and in truth. I desperately wanted to know how to worship God in a way that was pleasing to Him, that would touch His heart. I sought Him earnestly. I wasn’t seeking material things, although I did have many needs at the time. From my heart, I sought His presence. I sought to please Him. I began to spend extra time in worship. Almost daily, I could feel myself getting closer and closer to God. After a few days of choosing to worship more intently, something changed. The Lord began to wake me up every night around 3 am. He would nudge me awake and whisper, “Come, worship Me.” I would slip out of bed, get on my knees, lift my hands, and worship. I sang song after song to God. Not songs of praise, only songs of worship, to Him alone. About Him alone. I didn’t stop until I felt His pleasure each night. Oddly enough, I could feel when He was satisfied with my worship. Then I would go back to bed.
That must have lasted for a month or so, every single night. Precious times in the presence of my Lord. One day, when I least expected it, God poured out His abundance on me. He began to rain down prosperity on me, more than I could have imagined. Within weeks, everything I had been praying for was mine. All needs were met in abundance. Not only that, but His manifested presence had become tangible in my home. People who walked into my house felt His holy presence. It was a season of the awesomeness of God. Of the goodness of God being poured out out in my life.
Later, I asked God about it. I said, “God there are people who pray more, know more of the Word than I do, who are better Christians, why did You pour out Your blessings on me?” He immediately answered my heartfelt inquiry. “Because you worshipped Me.” For years, I have pondered that season and God’s answer to me. Recently I found a scripture that confirmed this truth.
And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain. Zech. 14:17
If we fail to worship God, we will not experience the abundant rain of God in our life.
Perhaps, worship is not as easy for you. I understand. Some people find it easier to worship than others. I have a friend like that. She is a very vibrant woman who loves to praise God. Praise is good. Praise is necessary. It has a purpose in our spiritual life. It stops the enemy in his tracks. The Bible tells us so.
Worship is different from praise. We praise God for His mighty works and what He has done and will do. That’s praise. Worship is all about who He is. His holiness. Yes, God inhabits our praise – He also desires those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. And worship – brings the rain of God. When we worship God, He pours out His rain of abundance. It waters all the seeds we have sown. It produces a harvest that is far above all we can think or imagine. We cannot harvest without rain.
I want to share another scripture with you concerning worship that I find powerful.
Psalm 34:9 in the Amplified Bible says, O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.
There is no want in those who worship God. Isn’t that an amazing promise?!?
The Message Bible says it like this. Worship God if you want the best; worship opens doors to all his goodness.
Worship God if you want the best – it’s opens doors to ALL His GOODNESS. I saw this truth with my own eyes. My question to you today is, “is the abundance of God raining on you?” Are doors of His goodness opened before you? If not, are you spending time worshipping God?
If you are already a worshipper and are not seeing the rain of God, perhaps you have not been spending time in worship. This can happen when we become too busy with life. It happens to me. I must stop and refocus on God and who He is. Then choose to take time to worship Him. Lately, I feel Him nudging again, drawing us into that intimate place with Him. That place of private worship.
Hosea 6 says, Come. Let us return to the Lord, let us strive to know the Lord, He will come to us like the rain.
I urge you today, if you have not been spending time in worship, return to the Lord. Strive to really know Him. To become intimately acquainted with Him. I truly feel He is about to rain on His people. He is ready to open wide the doors of His goodness to those who are seeking His face. To those who worship Him. Are you one of those?
Thank you so very much for the many blessings your simple yet profound insights have on so many of our lives. I would much appreciate more insight regarding praise vs worship. What does that look like in words and acts? You mentioned praise songs vs worship songs; could you name a few of each which might help explain the difference. May blessings pour out upon you and your family. Much love! I am guessing your followers would appreciate this as well.
