One morning last week, I awoke singing a song I hadn’t heard for decades. Here are some of the words.
“It’s beginning to rain, rain, rain, I hear the voice of the Father, saying, whosoever will come and drink of this water.
He’s longing to pour His spirit out, on His sons and His daughters, if you’re thirsty and dry, look up to the sky, it’s beginning to rain.”
As I said, I haven’t thought about this song for many years, so I was surprised that I woke up singing it. However, lately I have been studying inheritance for an upcoming podcast with Elijah Force. I felt like God put this song on my heart and coming out of my mouth concerning our inheritance.
Psalm 68 says:
The earth shook.
The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
You, O God, sent a plentiful rain,
Whereby You confirmed Your inheritance,
When it was weary.
Your congregation dwelt in it;
You, O God, provided from Your goodness for the poor.
Let’s look at the Amplified: You, O God, did send a plentiful rain; You did restore and confirm Your heritage when it languished and was weary.
One translation says God sent a reviving rain to revive and refresh His inheritance to us.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel I have yet received or am walking in the fullness of my inheritance in God. However, I do believe He is right now, in this moment, raining on our inheritance. Reviving it. Refreshing it. Restoring it. And…I believe it is time for us to receive it in its fullness and begin to dwell in it. What is it?
Our inheritance is, of course, eternal life and the joy we will dwell in once we get to heaven. However, I do not believe that is all it is. I believe our inheritance includes all we have need of here on earth. If you can find it in the Word of God as a promise, I believe that is part of our inheritance.
To discover how to receive it, let’s look back at the scripture from Psalm 68.
Rain fell at the presence of the Lord. Mountains moved at the presence of the Lord. The rain needed to revive and refresh our inheritance is found in one place. In the presence of the Lord.
I believe God is calling us into His presence to receive His rain and our inheritance. That excites me greatly.
Let’s look back at the song He gave me.
“It’s beginning to rain, rain, rain, I hear the voice of the Father, saying, whosoever will come and drink of this water. He’s longing to pour His spirit out, on His sons and His daughters, if you’re thirsty and dry, look up to the sky, it’s beginning to rain.”
Whosoever will – come and drink of this water.
He’s longing to pour out – if we will only come and drink.
I am reminded of what Jesus said to the woman at the well.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:10-13)
Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (Jn 4:21-24)
Time after time, worship and rain coincide throughout the Bible.
If you want the Living Water flowing in your life, worship is a must!
Today, if you want to partake of the inheritance you have in Christ, worship Him. If you are thirsty and dry, worship God. If you desire to have God pour out on you and into your life all that He is – worship Jehovah. And then enjoy the rain! Enjoy the glory! And receive and walk in your full inheritance. It’s yours for the taking. Paid in full. Take it today.
On April 17th, I was also hearing Mercy is falling by David Ruis. Certainly not a song I keep in my playlist!
Mercy Is Falling Is Falling Is Falling
Mercy Is Falls Like A Sweet Spring Rain
Mercy Is Falling Is Falling All Over Me
Everybody sing
Hey-Oh, Hey-Oh, Hey-Oh, Hey-Oh
Wow! JUST WOW! I felt refreshed just reading about the rain! I am not sure how I got onto your mailing list, but your daily posts are a blessing. They always speak straight to my heart and I feel the spirit in the words you write. I also wake up with songs and know they are from the Father. Often I am surprised as they are songs from long ago I had forgotten about. Thank you for sharing and for your encouragement! May God richly bless you!
