One day I was riding through a nearby town with a friend, when a huge sign on the side of a building caught my eye. I questioned my friend about it and she responded, “Yes, it’s been there for a while.” I couldn’t get it off my mind – it felt as if God were speaking directly to me.

The sign said, “In Madisonville, as it is in heaven.” Wow! What a declaration to make over an entire city.

I could not get those words off my mind that weekend. A day later, I went to a church in a different city. During prayer time the pastor of that church prayed for me. He ended the prayer with, “On earth as it is in heaven.”

The next week, someone sent me an email that talking about some of the things they were praying for concerning me. They ended their email with, yes, you guessed it, “On earth as it is in heaven.”

The Bible says by the mouth of three witnesses every thought is established. I knew God was speaking to me the first time through the building sign but then He gave me two additional confirmations – I had no doubt at all.

The following week, everything I read or heard had something to say about that phrase. On earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:9-13 says.

 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

God gave us this way to pray. Part of that prayer is that it would be ‘on earth as it is in heaven.’ Are there any areas of your life where it doesn’t feel like heaven on earth? Any situations where you are not feeling like things in your life are the same way they are in heaven.

Is there peace in your home as there is in heaven. Is there health in your body as it is in heaven? Is there provision and abundance in your life, as there is in heaven? If your answer is no to any of these questions – I believe God wants to change that for you.

I know He was speaking to me that weekend through that word, the pastor and the friend. And, I believe He is speaking it to you today. You can have this promise – that things will be on earth (in your life) as it is in heaven. God is not cruel, He would not tell us to pray a prayer that couldn’t or wouldn’t be answered.

Can you imagine telling your child to pray for a pony for Christmas. You tell them to pray that way every day yet, you have no intention of purchasing them a pony. That would be cruel, don’t you think? God is not cruel. If He tells us to pray a certain way that is because it is His will for us. And He will bring it to pass.

That weekend, all I could think was, I would love to have a sign to put on my home that said, “In my house, in my life, in my family, in my body, in my finances, as it is in heaven.” Wouldn’t that be awesome. I couldn’t figure out a way to do that, but what I can do is pray and declare this on a daily basis.

God, may Your kingdom come in my life, in my family, in my finances, in my home, in my body, as it is in heaven.

My friend, add this to your prayer time. It is how Jesus told us to pray. I believe He wants to fulfill this prayer in your life today. Press in and declare His will and call His kingdom forth, by declaring, on earth as it is in heaven in your life. Amen & Amen.
