I had a dream recently—one that I immediately sensed was from God as soon as I woke up. Despite this certainty, the dream didn’t make sense to me at first. I realized I hadn’t yet received the full revelation or understanding of its message.

A few hours into my day, I received an email from a pastor friend. As I read through his words, something shifted within me. Suddenly, I gained insight into the meaning of my dream; the message became clear.

The dream itself was simple.

I was driving down a highway. It was pitch dark. I could not see anything in front of me. I checked my headlight switch, thinking my headlights weren’t on, but they were on bright. I drove on in the dark. I still could not see anything in front of me. Again, I checked my lights, turning them off and then on again, only to find they were already on bright. I did that several times in my dream. Each time they were on as bright as they could go.

I woke up.

When I awoke from the dream, I was certain that it was from God, but the meaning was completely unclear to me. I didn’t yet grasp what He was trying to communicate. It was only after receiving and reading an email from my pastor friend the next day that everything clicked into place. In that moment, I suddenly understood what God was saying to me.

God was giving me reassurance—reminding me that, even when I feel unable to see what lies ahead, I am still moving forward within the fullness of His light. He was letting me know that I am not alone on this journey, even if the path before me seems hidden in darkness.

I had been praying about which direction to take and felt a deep peace about the choice before me. Yet, for the past couple of weeks, I kept sensing a pause or a check in my spirit, which left me questioning the direction and choice I had made. This left me feeling uncertain and unable to see what was next. As a result, I found myself examining my heart, questioning: Am I moving in the right direction? Did I really hear God’s guidance correctly? Should I continue moving forward, or is it time to stop and wait?

Today, through my dream, I believe God is urging me—and all of us—to keep moving forward, even when the road ahead is unclear. He’s telling us that we are walking in His light, and that we can trust Him even when we cannot see what lies in front of us. We are not alone; He is both with us and guiding us, serving as the Light that illuminates our path.

Personally, whenever I receive clear guidance from God, I am eager to move ahead with confidence and speed. Yet, in those moments when the future seems uncertain, I find myself hesitating. Sometimes I even stop altogether, unsure of the next step. But today, I sense God’s message is simple and powerful: keep moving. Even if the way ahead appears shrouded in darkness, trust Him throughout the journey. Trust Him when you cannot see what is coming next. Trust Him, and continue walking beside Him, knowing that He is faithful and will guide you every step of the way.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God knows His plans for us – they are good plans. Plans for a good hope and a good future, filled with life…we can trust Him and His plan.

John 8:12 says, Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”

Another translation says it like this; Then Jesus said, “I am light to the world and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will never walk in darkness.”

I love the scripture that reminds us: those who embrace Jesus and His word will always experience a life-giving light—Jesus Himself. This promise is at the core of our faith, assuring us that no matter how uncertain our future may seem, the presence of Jesus offers clarity, hope, and guidance.

Today, I want to encourage you: if you cannot see what lies ahead, trust Jesus. He is the life-giving light that is guiding you, even when the path is not clear and the future is unknown. His light continues to shine, leading you forward step by step.

Even when circumstances are confusing and you struggle to understand what is next, remember to trust Him and keep following. Jesus will not lead you astray. He is the light in every season, and His plans for you are good. All He asks is that you keep moving forward in faith, trusting in His faithfulness and love.
