This morning after thinking about the many prayer requests I have had lately and how people are becoming weary in their faith – I was reminded of a scripture from the Old Testament.
We live in a world where a lot of people are very self-centered and “it’s all about me.” Unfortunately, it is prevalent in our society – I do not think that is the heart of God, do you? We are all in this together.
We are the BODY of Christ. We all work together – or we should if we want to see God’s plan come to pass in our generation. It can’t be all about us. Let’s look at this scripture I am referring to.
As long as Moses held his hands up, the Israelites would win the fight, but when Moses put his hands down, the Amalekites would win. Later, when Moses’ arms became tired, the men put a large rock under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up Moses’ hands—Aaron on one side and Hur on the other. They kept his hands steady until the sun went down. So Joshua defeated the Amalekites in this battle. (Ex 17:11-13, New Century Version)
A battle was going on. As long as Moses was able to keep his hands raised, they won the battle. However, when he dropped his hands, they were losing the battle. The first thing Aaron and Hur did was give him a place to sit, to rest his body. The next thing they did was hold his arms up. As they did this – the battle was won – they utterly defeated the enemy.
This is one of those days that I not only want to encourage you in a writing, but I want to challenge you this week. I am asking you to find TWO people whom you can hold up their arms in the battle they are facing. I realize you may be reading this thinking, “You don’t know what I am going through, I need someone to hold up my arms.” I understand that completely, but just this week, instead of focusing on your battle, find someone you can help them gain victory. I know in doing this – God will fight your battle for you.
There are many ways you can do this. You could call someone and encourage them. Or you can take it a step farther and call them each day and pray for them over the phone. If that is not possible, you can send them a text prayer or an audio prayer. You could also look up scriptures to encourage them and send them a scripture a day. Whatever you choose, do something to help hold up the arms of the weary.
I keep thinking about the scripture in Genesis that says, “Am I my brothers keeper?” Sometimes, we CAN be our brothers keeper. We can be the one that lifts up their arms to victory. The Bible says, two are better than one, for if one falls, the other will lift him up. Let this be a week of us lifting up someone else. Of helping someone else obtain victory. Can you do that?
My friends, I know you may very well be weary too, but let’s take some time to encourage, uplift and press on to victory. Remember the friends that lowered their friend down through a roof to get his healing? We can do the same thing. Let’s do it!
Be my brother keeper, together we achieve more.
when will support one another we take off depression from our love’s ones.
