Mark 11:23-24 is a familiar scripture to most of us.
For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Recently I began to meditate on this scripture. As I did, I began to pray differently.
As I said, this is a very familiar scripture. I have always had a head knowledge of if I believe I receive, I will have it. I believe all the word of God to be truth. Still, as I meditated on this scripture, it became much more than head knowledge.
I began to pray knowing, IF I believe I receive it – then I will have it. IF I BELIEVE I RECEIVE IT WHEN I PRAY. I began to pray with that truth in mind.
A few days later, this word was confirmed in my life in a tangible way.
On Friday, all the local news stations were warning of severe storms and tornados predicted to come our way. Everyone was on high alert. Breanne had even set up several alerts on my cell phone, to alert me of any pending storms or tornados.
I had done all the necessary things. Purchased candles and charged phones and flashlights. Just before dark, I walked my property and prayed. I declared the blood of Jesus over my property. I prayed Mark 11:23-24, reminding God of His promise of protection. I prayed over my electricity and declared that my electricity would not go out, even if everyone’s around me went out. And, I believed I received it when I prayed.
Later, I went to bed and went to sleep. I was awakened around 1am with large hail hitting the windows. I again, declared God faithful to His word and went back to sleep.
I have power outage lights that plug in, if the power goes out, they immediately come on. Around three o’clock in the morning, the power outage lights in my bedroom came on. My first thought was “I prayed about this!” However, I allowed no words to come out of my mouth. I lay in bed and thanked God for my power staying on. I thanked Him that nothing in my house would be affected.
After a few moments, I noticed something odd. I could see lights down the hallway. I got up out of bed and walked down the hallway to see where the light was coming from.
I had not lost power! My electricity was on! The lightening had apparently kicked off one outlet. I only had to reset it and everything was working again. Praise the Lord!
The next day, everyone around me had lost power. Their power was restored around noon, while mine remained on all through the storms. God is faithful.
The Bible says a thousand may fall by my side and ten thousand at my right hand, but it won’t come near me. (Psalm 91:7) I saw the manifestation of this scripture along with the one from Mark 11:23-24.
Isaiah 55:11 says, Gods word will not return void, it will accomplish what it is sent to do. This is the truth. He will do His part, as we do our part.
Our part, when we pray, is to believe we receive it.
We must believe we receive it when we pray. Regardless of how it looks. We can’t let what our eyes see override what the word of God says. The word will not return void. That and that alone, is what we must keep our spiritual eyes on.
May I suggest you take a day and meditate on Mark 11:23-24. Ponder on it. Think on it. Meditate on it until you have a heart revelation of this scripture.
When you get the revelation of it, begin to pray anew. Pray and believe you receive what you are praying for…when you pray it. Then let nothing, and I do mean nothing, move you. For if you believe you receive it…you will have it. You have His word on it.
