This morning, as I walked into the prayer room to record the weekly audio partner prayer, my mind was going over everything I needed to do this week. As I was thinking about what needed to be accomplished at this time, the Lord arrested my thoughts. He stopped me in my tracks as He spoke His instruction to me.
He said, “Don’t get so busy this week that you miss Me.” It was a stern command. I knew from His tone that if I didn’t obey—if I allowed myself to become too busy and too preoccupied—I would miss something important.
As I began to pray for the partners, I felt firmly this wasn’t only for me but for all of us.
“Don’t get so busy THIS WEEK that you miss God.”
There are appointed times and seasons in God; if we miss them, they pass. I don’t want to miss anything in God. If He says, “Don’t miss me this week,” then I am going to clear my schedule as much as possible, lean in, and listen for His voice—for His direction.
Psalm 75:2 says when I choose the proper time. This tells me God has a time for everything. The Passion Translation says it like this: when the time is ripe, I will arise. I LOVE THAT!!!
Habakkuk 2:3 says, For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
Again, we see that God has appointed times—appointments with us, so to speak. If we miss an appointment, we must reschedule. I don’t know about you, but I want to keep my appointments with God…especially the ones HE makes with me. Knowing He has appointed times – we must be willing to set things aside what we can and do things on His schedule.
I don’t know exactly what all this means, but I do know this…God said, “Don’t get so busy this week that you miss me.” I know from this command that it is indeed possible for me to get so busy that I miss what He is doing at this moment in time. Otherwise, He would not have said it. God doesn’t waste words.
I know the enemy will attempt to throw things in my path to distract me and keep me from seeing and receiving what God is doing. I know I must be on guard concerning my time and attention in this pivotal season.
I don’t know what your schedule is for this week. If I were you, I would stop and pray about it. Ask God to cause you to walk on His path, doing only what He would have you do. Make room for Him now, more than ever. Perhaps there are some things you can set aside or reschedule to have more time in the presence of the Lord.
As you awake, take a few moments each morning and ask God what He would have you do that day. Give Him first place in your day. Then, take a few moments before bed to ask Him if there is anything He desires to tell you. Don’t miss what God is doing this week. That is my prayer for all of us. May we keep our ears tuned to the Spirit of God. May we hear Him clearly and obey Him quickly. May we be right in the middle of what He is doing. Lean in, my friend; He is speaking and working on your behalf…don’t miss this moment.
