This morning, as I awoke, the first thing I heard was a scripture; it is found in Isaiah 60, which says, “Arise and shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”
As I meditated on this scripture, excitement began to build. I jumped out of bed and did a quick word study on it. Let me share what I discovered with you today.
Arise = become powerful, come on the scene, stir up, even in a hostile sense.
Shine = become light, become lighted up
Light = daylight, the dawn of a new day, the light of life, the light of prosperity, the light of instruction, the light of His face
Come = come to pass
Glory = honor, glorious abundance
Risen = come forth, appear
In this scripture, God is saying “Arise – become powerful, come on the scene, stir yourself up, become the light you were created to be. It’s the dawn of a new day, you are walking in the light of life (the zoe life of God), you are walking in the light of prosperity, you are walking in the light of instruction, you are walking in the light of His face. His light, His life in you has come to pass, His glory and abundance is risen, has come forth and appeared upon you.”
Isn’t that wonderful!
I have been hearing many people say that they are weary. They are tired of standing in faith or fighting the good fight of faith. I can understand that. Just last week, as I went into my prayer room for my daily prayer, I felt overwhelmingly weary. I had no reason to, but it is how I felt. What did I do?
I began to stir myself up. I began to speak to myself. I laid hands on myself and commanded the gift of faith that is in me to arise. I commanded the spirit of God in me to arise and be the power force it is in my life. I commanded weariness to leave me and strength to come. I declared that I would hold fast to my confidence in God, steadfast to the end. I declared that I would not grow weary but would rise in His strength and stand firm.
You see, when weariness tries to come, we have to confront it, battle it, and overcome it. Our strength lies in Him alone. And that strength is more than enough. His grace is more than enough to take us through, and I don’t mean by the skin of our teeth, I mean to take us through victoriously. He promises to bring us out into an abundant place and I have seen Him do that for me and others time and again.
It is a new day – a new dawning and His light has risen upon you. I know we see much darkness on this earth – but His light on you is so much more powerful than any darkness. Trust in that truth.
Matthew 5:14 says, “You are the light of the world…”
John 1:5 says the darkness cannot overcome the light. I love how the Amplified Bible translates this scripture.
And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it.
Think about that for a moment, the darkness has NEVER, NOT ONCE, overpowered the light – it shines on, even in dark times.
He desires for others to see your light. To not only see it but to be changed by it. To do that – we must do one thing – arise and shine. It’s that day my friend – the day for YOU to arise and shine and let His light be seen in you. It’s there! Let it shine!
