I was walking through my kitchen over the weekend when the Lord spoke a sentence to me. He said, “There are times when the wind shifts to your favor.”
He immediately took my thoughts back to a scene in movie that I have mentioned many times. It is called Facing the Giants. In this scene a small young man is asked to kick a football. He is asked to kick it harder and farther than he has ever kicked before. Almost twice as far. He doesn’t believe he can do it. The coach believes he can. Frankly, it is their only chance to win the game. The entire thing hangs in the balance of this one kick. To make matters worse, the wind is blowing hard toward the young man – blowing against him.
In the movie, as the young man battles the fear that has overtaken him, the wind suddenly changes. It shifts. It begins to blow at the young man’s back. Blowing toward the goal, instead of against it. The coach yells, “Kick it now! Kick it now!” The young man kicks with all he’s got and with the help of the powerful wind that is blowing in his favor, he makes the goal.
I knew exactly what God was saying as He led me to this example. Have you ever felt the winds of life blowing against you? Have you felt no matter what you do it isn’t working? Perhaps you feel you just can’t do it anymore? If that is you – know this – there is a time when the wind shifts in your favor.
Psalm 102:13 talks about a time such as this – a set time of favor.
We all go through hard times. We all walk through seasons when we are not sure we are going to make it through. However, God doesn’t leave us in those seasons. If we continue to trust Him and seek His face, He will not only bring us through, but the Bible also promises He will bring us out to a place of rich fulfillment.
Psalm 102:13 says, You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come.
The Amplified Bible says, the appointed time has come, the moment designated.
There is a moment in time when God will cause the winds of adversity to shift and blow in our favor. When that happens, it will work for our good, it will empower us to make that final push, or kick that elusive kick and see all God has vowed and promised us come to pass.
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. (Eccl 3:1)
At just the right time, I will respond to you. On the day of salvation, I will help you. (Is 49:8, AMP)
For He says, In the time of favor (of an assured welcome) I have listened to and heeded your call, and I have helped you on the day of deliverance (the day of salvation). Behold, now is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance [of you from God]; behold, now is the day of salvation! (2 Cor 6:2, NLT)
There is an appointed time! There is a time when the wind shifts in your favor! There is such a time. I love what Jeremiah 1:12 says. Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. God is watching over His Word, poised for that appointed time to release His goodness and His favor in your life.
If this writing speaks to your heart today – grab hold of it. Know that there is an appointed time for YOU. Know that God will watch over His Word for YOUR life and perform it. Know that He is declaring to YOU, “the wind WILL shift in your favor – only believe.” When it does, hear Him clearly as He proclaims, “kick it now! Kick it now!” Then release your faith for all the things you have been standing in faith for – release your faith for the seemingly impossible. For nothing is impossible with God. He will make all things work for your good. He will bring you out into an abundant place. He will do all He has vowed and promised you.
My prayer for you today is that at this very moment, the wind is shifting in your favor. Let it blow, Lord, let it blow!
