Today, I want you to stop and think about what you are thinking about. What is consuming your thoughts? Perhaps you find yourself in a battle of sorts. Maybe over health, or finances, or family issues. If so, what do you think about most of the time?

I have said it before, but I will say it again. Joyce Meyer had it so right when she began to teach on the battlefield is in the mind. Proverbs 23:7 tells us, As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Our thoughts matter – not just our words, but also our thoughts.

Proverbs 21:5 says, The plans of the diligent lead to plenty. That word, plans, is translated as thoughts. Our thoughts are leading us somewhere – either to poverty or plenty. We see this throughout the word of God.

In the Bible God talks about life and death. Darkness and light. Right or wrong. There are no middle grounds with God. Everything we do, think or say is either producing life or producing death. At least that’s the way I interpret it.

The Bible teaches us that life and death are in the power of the tongue.

Most of us are familiar with that scripture. However, before the words come out of our mouth, they first enter into our thoughts. If we entertain those thoughts long enough, we will begin to speak them out of our mouth. That’s great when we are thinking and meditating on the word of God and speaking God’s word and His will. But what about when we speak out loud the negative thoughts that are running through our mind? When we speak those thoughts that are not aligned with God’s word – we are producing death, not life.

Whatever we are thinking about does one of two things.

Our thoughts either move us close to fellowship with God OR they move us farther away from fellowship with God.

If we continually meditate on the negative and the things that go against the word and will of God, it will move us farther from God. However, when we think on the things of God and His word, and His plan for our life, it moves us deeper into fellowship with God.

The Bible says God will keep us in perfect peace when our MIND is stayed upon Him. Perfect peace, the shalom of God. Completeness, nothing broken and nothing missing is what we cultivate as we continually think on God and His word.

I don’t know about you. But 2025 was a battleground for me. It was a continual, non-stop battle all year long. It was very difficult to keep my mind on God and His promises. Frankly, after months of battle, I was weary.

When we become tired, our thoughts drift. The negative begins to take over if we allow it to. We begin to think on what we are going through. Or what is happening with our finances. Or how our body feels. Or what is going on in our family. If we stay in that thought pattern long enough, it can lead us out of fellowship with God. NOTHING GOOD CAN COME FROM THAT.

We must realize, our thoughts are taking us somewhere. Either closer to God or away from Him. We cannot allow anything to take us away from His presence. Or take us away from fellowship with Him.

My friend, I ask you today to examine your thoughts. Make sure you are thinking life and not death in your situation. Make sure you are meditating on the light and not the darkness. As you think – so are you. Your thoughts are leading you somewhere. Make sure that somewhere is going deeper in God. Your victory is in Him alone. Stay in Him.
