This week I shared with you a writing about my friend,Marsha’s, vision of dancing with the Lord. Today, I want to share another writing with you about a different dance.

“There’s something in the dance, Kim.” These were words a friend spoke to me this week after I shared a testimony with her.

You see, I had experienced something very odd and didn’t realize the protection of God until after the fact. I stand in awe of God’s goodness in my life, especially on that day.

I was at my office early one morning. I usually arrive at work very early because I can get a lot accomplished before others come in and people begin to come by the office. Therefore, it was around 6:30 am and I had already been at work for an hour or so.

We live in a small city, thankfully, there is not a lot of crime here, therefore I don’t think a lot about going in that early. Every now and then I will keep the door locked when I am there alone, but mainly because I am in prayer and don’t want to be disturbed.

However, on this particular day I did not lock the door. I was busy working when I noticed a van pulled into our parking lot. We have businesses all around us therefore I didn’t think too much of it. I continued working. I did glance out every now and then to see what the man in the van was doing since he continued sitting there. I did get a good look at his face because he was so close to our door. He got out of his van a couple times and walked around but didn’t come near my door.

About the same time, I got a text from Carol, one of my praying friends. She said, “Have you danced in the room today?”

While it seemed like an odd question, I knew she was referring to the prayer and healing room. I responded, “No, I have not.” She texted back, “I think you should go dance in the room.” I trust her and I did not want to miss God, so I got up and walked into the prayer room.  I turned on the music and began to dance before the Lord.

The funny thing is we have moved our rooms around and I hadn’t put up window coverings in the prayer room yet, therefore the man in the van could see everything I was doing. But I danced on. I danced before the Lord until I felt it was okay to stop. Once done, I went back to work.

A little while later a man who has a business beside us came into the office and asked, “Did you see the man in the van?” I said, “Yes, I did.” He went on to say, “I don’t like him, there is something not right about him, he is up to no good, watch out for him and watch the kids that come through here, I don’t like him.” I said, “Okay, I will.” He continued, “He has tattoos of satan all over him, I just don’t feel right about him.” I laughed and said, “Okay, I will be careful.”

I didn’t think much more about it. While watching the local news, later that day, I found the same man, the one in the van, shot and killed a man during an armed robbery. Suddenly I realized that God protected me and I didn’t even know it.

I later shared the news with Carol and said to her, “Your instruction to dance before God may have saved my life.” Her reply was simple, yet profound, “There is something in the dance, Kim.”

There IS something in the dance.

Psalm 150:4 says, Praise Him with the timbrel and dance.

Psalm 149:3 says, Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.

I don’t not know what is going on in your life right now, but if you have done all you know to do and still haven’t seen breakthrough, try dancing before the Lord, there is, indeed, something in the dance.
