Today, the Lord reminded me of a dream He once gave me. The dream took place on Christmas Eve, and I think that’s why it comes to mind again during this Christmas season. Perhaps, it is for such a time as this.
God has shown me dreams about Christmas before, particularly before significant events in my life. In many of these dreams, I find myself unprepared. I often end up shopping at the last minute and rushing to get everything ready. However, this dream was different.
In the dream, I was fully prepared for the celebration. I had already purchased all the gifts, wrapped them, and placed them under the tree. Yet, at the last moment, my mom asked me to run to Walmart to pick something up for her. I replied, “Mom, it will be crazy out there; it is Christmas Eve!”
The word “EVE” was magnified in my dream. It appeared in picture form, with the letters vibrating and repeating, much like the echo you hear when you yell into a canyon. I realized that God was revealing the moment we are currently in. We are on the EVE of something extraordinary—a grand celebration! We are on the EVE of a significant display of God’s fulfilled promises.
While “eve” commonly refers to the day before Christmas, it also signifies a period leading up to an important event or occurrence.
I believe the Lord is conveying to me that we are currently in a period just before an important event or happening. We are literally on the eve of something wonderful. This doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the day before, but rather the time leading up to it.
Throughout history, there have always been periods of anticipation. For example, there was a time before God delivered the children of Israel from Pharaoh’s rule. There was a time before Abraham saw the birth of Isaac, the son of promise. There was a time before David became king. Every great event has its own “eve”—a period of waiting and preparation.
Looking specifically at the eve of the Israelites’ delivery, we can see that conditions often appeared to worsen before they improved. It was a dark, sobering time filled with fear and uncertainty.
On the night before Isaac was born, there was considerable confusion. Abraham and Sarah attempted to take matters into their own hands, resulting in the birth of a son who was not the son of the promise.
Similarly, before David became king, he was fleeing for his life. At that time, everything seemed contrary to what God had declared about him.
How about Joseph? The night before he became second in command, he was in prison, with no hope of escape. Yet, in all these instances, what God said would happen did happen, just as He promised. So it shall be this time. God has stated that if we humble ourselves and pray, He will heal our land. He will do exactly that—so hold on. If He has promised to restore all that we have lost, He will. If He has said our children will return to God, they will. If He proclaimed that by His stripes we are healed, we are!
Don’t grow weary. Don’t give up, and don’t stop praying—we are breaking through. Don’t focus on the chaos and the storms; keep your eyes on God and His Word. Know this: we are on the eve of something extraordinary.
We must prepare ourselves. We need to ready our hearts. Remember, sometimes great confusion surrounds the birth of a miracle. Although it may seem like things are going in the opposite direction, make no mistake about it—what God says will be, will be.
I encourage you to spend time with God this week. Pray in the Spirit and worship Him. He will bring to fulfillment every word He has spoken to you and every promise He has made. Perhaps you are on the brink of that time; believe it and receive it.
