I want to share another interesting thing about eagles. In my study, I discovered, they have two sets of eyes. The first set is their natural eyes, which they use anytime they are in resting mode. These are the eyes they use most often.

However, when they start to take flight on strong winds, they have a second eye that comes in on them. This second eye comes into play to protect their natural or first eye. The second eyes is also used when the eagle must fly through strong storms. The reason is, the heavy winds from storms could easily damage their normal, natural eye. The second eye provides a protective covering as they navigate through heavy storms.

This reminds me of the scripture found in Psalm 91.

Reminds me of the scripture: Psalm 91

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely, He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. …

As Christians, we also have two sets of eyes operating in us. The first set is our normal natural eye which we use to see the natural world in which we live in. However, we also have a second set of eyes available to us. That second set of eyes is the eyes of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives within us. We, therefore, have the ability available to us to see through His eyes and to see from His perspective.

When we take the time to draw closer to the Lord in our own personal relationship with Him, there will be times that He will allow us to see things as He sees them. We will begin to see insight into scripture that we could not have seen apart from the Holy Spirit revealing it to us or teaching us. God will even allow us to see the truth about certain situations, from His point of view, if we press into Him and allow Him to show us what’s going on from His viewpoint.

When this starts to occur, this is the Holy Spirit Himself allowing you to see things through His eyes, and not through your natural eye. This is a supernatural happening and one that is available to those who will seek God’s face, His will and His ways.

God Himself literally allows you to see things from His point of view and perspective.

Psalm 119:18 says, Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.

Remember in 2 Kings 6:17, Elisha was surrounded by enemies of God. His servant was afraid. However, Elisha could see through the eyes of the spirit, he knew they were safe. But, his servant could not see with spiritual eyes. Therefore, Elisha asked God to open his servants eyes that he could see from God’s perspective.

And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Isn’t that awesome! God protected them by mountains – think about that – mountains full of horses and chariots of fire. There was no way the enemy could get to them. That’s the same thing God does for us today when the enemy attempts to attack us. We only need to ask God to open our spiritual eyes and cause us to see from His viewpoint – and then we will know and be fully persuaded that, just like the Bible says, there are more with us than with any enemy. Hallelujah!

Just like the eagle needs his two sets of eyes in order to be able to live and thrive in this world, in the same way we need both our natural eyes and the eyes of the Holy Spirit operating in us so we can properly work for the Lord and thrive in our daily life.

My prayer for all of us today is that God would open our eyes to see things from His perspective, from His viewpoint. Just like Elisha’s servant, may God open our eyes today to see what He sees and know, He is working on our behalf, and we are hidden and protected in Him. To God be all the glory!
