The word process is defined as; a series of actions that you take in order to achieve an end result.
I don’t know about you, but I like the suddenly of God more than the process. Yet, over the past few weeks, God has led me to scripture after scripture confirming the truth that most things are a process.
It all began with one particular scripture. One I heard someone mention in passing during a preaching message. It wasn’t his main topic, but it is the scripture that jumped in my spirit. Since that day, I have heard that scripture quoted numerous times – and what’s even more odd is that I don’t recall ever reading this scripture – even though I have read through the Bible many times.
The scripture is found in the book of Proverbs.
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. (Prov 4:18)
But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared]. (Prov 4:18, Amp)
I love how the Amplified Bible says it. Our path will shine more and more bright, clearer and clearer with each passing day until we reach full strength. Until we arrive at the perfect day.
It makes me think of another scripture that is along these same lines.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. (Ps 37:23)
It doesn’t say the entire journey is laid out before us by the Lord. No, it says each step is ordered by the Lord. Sometimes, it is one step at a time.
Interestingly, the word, step, in this scripture means, a step, as in one step. It also means companionship. Each step we take must be made in the companionship of God; each step must be directed by Holy Spirit. As we do this, we will undoubtedly arrive at the destination HE has for us. That is the good news.
The not-so-good news is that it is indeed a process. We may not arrive in a day, a week, or a month. It will be one GOD ordained step after another.
We all wish breakthrough would come instantly, and sometimes it does. Most times, it is a process. A time of learning to walk with God, hear His voice and obey His instruction. During those times our journey becomes brighter and brighter – I just love that, don’t you!
For those of you who are weary from the process, I want to encourage you today. I want to remind you of the promises of the Word of God – that Word that cannot return void but will accomplish all you send it for.
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Gal 6:9)
For we are partakers with Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end. (Heb 3:14)
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (Heb 10:23)
He who promised is faithful. His word will not return void. Stand firmly on His word and hold your faith-filled confidence all the way to the end…to the brightest day you can imagine. It’s yours – keep walking with the Lord – you will arrive at your destination.
Such a great timely and encouraging word this morning Kim!!
It’s hard keeping your hopes up sometimes when a promise God has whispered on your heart again and again …. seems to have vanished at the hand of circumstances and the choices of others …
Hebrews 10:23 came on my heart this morning when I was talking to God about it…. and about my weariness in the waiting …
The process…. can sometimes seem never ending but it is so good that we can trust that God is in all of it!
