My sister shared a story with me recently that was quite profound. At least the message I got out of it was.
Her daughter, my niece, just completed her second year of college. She hopes to go on to medical school after the four years at this school. In taking her finals, one of the tests in a difficult subject, really stumped her. She was overwhelmed to say the least. This girl is usually a straight A student, so the thought of failing a test was devastating to her.
She took the final test. Later that night, while speaking with her mom, in a discouraging voice, she said, “I may have to change my major, perhaps, I am not cut out for the medical field.”
My sister responded by saying, “Don’t quit on a bad day.”
Those words sounded so profound to me. Don’t quit on a bad day.
When doing my book, there were so many days I wanted to say, “This is too hard, I can’t do this.” Actually, I had tried to finish the book for a few years but each time it became an overwhelming task that I would lay down for a season.
How many times have you begun to do something you knew the Lord called you to do and then had a day that looked like it would never happen? Sometimes, it even looked as if things were going the opposite direction. How many times did you want to quit on a bad day? I know this has happened to me many times and in numerous situations.
For this reason and many more, I found my sisters statement quite profound and even timely for me personally.
Don’t quit on a bad day.
The Bible says it like this.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Gal 6:9)
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. (2 Chron 15:7)
We become partakers of Christ, if we hold our confidence steadfast to the end. (Heb. 3:14)
My friend, I want to encourage you with this writing today. I want to tell you to never give up on the promises of God. Don’t quit on a bad day. That day will pass. The storm will move on and the sun will shine brightly again. Hold your confidence steadfast to the end.
Your bad day may be physical sickness. It may be a financial setback. It may be your children going a direction you never thought they would go. Whatever it is – don’t quit – and certainly don’t quit on a bad day. Instead laugh at the devil who is trying to get you to quit.
The Bible says, “At destruction and famine, we will laugh.” (Job 5:22) Therefore, when everything around you is telling you to quit – if it is something you know God has called you to – refuse to quit. Press forward. Seek God even more. Pray harder. Worship longer. Whatever you do, don’t quit on a bad day.
I needed this message today. While I may be having some problems, I know God is with me.
There are times that I want to tape some of your profound messages but thete is never a way yo do it..no share button..can you include these
